As an Operating System, right now the Windows XP seems to be old fashioned. The new version like Windows Vista, Windows 7 and what will come the Windows 8 would be replace the Windows XP, although for some old computer that didn't had a good computing process, such as still uses Pentium 4 or Pentium III and the RAM still around 256 - 512MB, still need to use Windows XP.

Now it is 2012. The Windows XP would be an "history" to the recent computer. This why I decided to not write about Windows XP, due to my Windows right now is using Windows 7 and I almost forgot about what the look like of Windows XP.

Just say farewell for Windows XP, welcome to New Windows.

After almost two month I used my paid monthly to connect to the Internet, I do believe that the most reliable and best Internet browser, in my experience, is Firefox. With firefox, you can browse faster, and clean. You can add a lot of add-ons to make a faster browse. Such as using Noscript or even Ads Blocker.

For Internet Explorer build by microsoft, I got a lot of problem when using it. My blogger template editor got screw up and make some java script not work. So just replace you old browser such as IE with Firefox. I guarantee you will love firefox.

Turning Off AutoPlay (CD / DVD / Flash disk / Removable Disk) in Windows XP

If you want to turn of Auto Play from your cd room or dvd room or or others removable or all drive disk just go to command prompt and typ gpedit.msc

Start Program >> Run >> gpedit.msc

Then go to Computer Configuration >> System

Then go to Link "Turn of AutoPlay"

Double click that link and you will see a new windows was open. Go to Tab Setting, Check the Enable, If you want do for all drive just go to "Turn of AutoPlay" to and choose All Drive then click ok.

Hibernate Windows XP : Save Running Application

Hibernate mode in windows xp is turn of options that will allow you to save your running application if your windows xp turning on again. With this hibernating mode you do not need to close your application such as office or winamp, because the running application will not be shut down. If you are turn on your computer, then the running application will still appear and work properly just the same condition when you take hibernating mode.

To hibernate you need to activate this hibernating service via power option: take one of this two step to activate hibernate mode.

Start >> Program >> Control Panel >> Power Option >> Hibernate Tab >> Enable Hibernation

Right Click on Desktop >> Properties >> Screen Saver >> Power >> Hibernate Tab >> Enable Hibernation

Now you Hibernate Turn off mode ready to use.

To use Hibernation you need to hold shift key and you will see Standby text turn to Hibernate.

For some reason, may be this assignment might not suit to your computer system. For example, you might have mapped a network drive to the same letter that windows assigns to a new drive. On your mouse, pointed to My Computer, then right click on them. If you saw a new windows appears, click manage. Under Computer Management, click Disk Management. Remove Windows XP Hibernation File

Hibernation is one of modes how you will shut down your computer of windows xp. With hibernation you can save you work without needed to close you working windows that run in you desktop. Therefore, when you turn on your computer the working or running application will still run and you can continue the task or work with that application. But, when we use hibernation, the space of your disk will be used equal to your RAM. That make your hard disk may full, because its still has hibernation file in your hard disk. Usually that hibernation file located in your C drive called hiberfil.sys.

To remove that file, all you have to do just to make hibernation option turn off. Just go to control panel, select performance and maintenance, power option, click hibernate tab, and then uncheck the enable hibernation box. You can also take this step:

Right click on your desktop >> click properties >> Screen Saver tab >> Power Option button >> hibernate tab >> uncheck enable hibernation box.

Speed Up or Fastening Detailed View in Windows Explorer

First you have to know how windows explorer read and view using “Detail” mode. Detail mode is one of the modes that available in explorer. Others are: Thumbnails, list, Icon, and tiles. With detail mode, explorer will read each file in the directory folder before it finally view. If the directory has a numerous and relatively large files (such as: folder that store media files eg: mp3, dat, mpeg, avi, etc), windows will lags as it reads through each one, and this will make a longer process.

For that reason, if you want to speed up the reading and viewing in detail mode, you have to disable viewing unwanted attributes of files that have large content. The step are: Open your windows explorer and navigate to the folder that you want to optimize (such as music or video folder).

In detail mode, right click the bar at the top which displaying the names of the attribute columns. You will see: size, type, etc in that column. Uncheck unwanted or unneeded detail. Windows Explorer within a second will apply your customize preferences immediately, and longs lists of unnecessary attribute will not be displayed anymore. With less attribute such as attribute of size and type, explorer will make faster lags and viewing.

Make Faster Startup Windows XP: Correcting System Hang

Few month ago, I found my windows got very long start up (or when try to login windows) the system seemly hang up about 2 or 3 minutes before it finally work properly. Within that hang system about 2 or 3 minutes, I can not access Start Button or even the Taskbar. I finally, found what the problem that make my loading windows at startup stuck and make longer that actually needed. The problem arise due to one specific service of Background Intelligent Transfer that running in the background. Therefore, you don’t see any problem message appear in your desktop windows.

Actually, Microsoft, the builder of windows xp, has released a patch to fix this problem, but in my windows, this patch seemingly didn’t work. Don’t worry, I finally found the solution for this problem. Here are the steps that should you do:

Click on Start Button and then click run command windows (of course this steps have to do after your hang system became normally), Type “msconfig” without quote, then click OK. In a second, you must see a System Configuration Utility windows appear in your desktop windows. Go to the “Services” Tab and find the Background Intelligent Transfer service. Usually this Background Intelligent Transfer locate under Windows Audio and above Computer Browser. Disable Background Intelligent Transfer, then Click Apply. Reboot your computer then see your startup difference.

Normally, if you change the System Configuration Utility, a message windows indicated the changed on you system startup will arise; just check the notification to disable this message windows. And you see your startup will faster then before.

Create Shutdown Button Shortcut on Desktop

Sometime you want to make a faster shutdown your windows xp by creating or making a shutdown button shortcut on your desktop window. With this shutdown button, you only need to click the button shortcut on your desktop and then your windows xp will be shutting down in some second. The steps that you have to do to make a shutdown button are: Point your mouse pointer on the desktop window, then right click on your mouse at your Desktop and create new Shortcut. Then you will see a Create Shortcut window arise with a box of location of an item that you want to make a shortcut.

Type “C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Shutdown.exe –s” without quotes in the popup box. Now when you double click this shortcut that recently created, it will directly give you shutdown message and your computer will shutdown after some second. In default shortcut that you just made, you can customize the shutdown button icon with the original icon. Go to the properties of your shortcut and click change icon tab. Then, select any icons you like and click apply.

With this step, you can also make a restart button on desktop window of your windows xp. Just replace Shutdown.exe –s with Shutdown.exe –r and the address become: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Shutdown.exe –r

You can also make a command in the box of run to shutdown or restart your windows xp by typing Shutdown –s to shutdown your window, Shutdown –r to restart your windows, and Shutdown –a to abort shutdown.
